Debt Awareness Week 2021

Debt Awareness Week 2021

This week is Debt Awareness Week 2021; StepChange’s campaign to destigmatise debt. The theme this year is centred around taking #TheFirstStep; encouraging people in debt to seek help; to talk about their debt problems, and to inspire them to see a brighter debt free future.

We understand the crucial role we play in our customer’s journey to a life that is debt free, so to help support the campaign we will be sharing new content on our customer Facebook page all week, to encourage them to take #thefirststep. Content will include promoting our free contact methods, useful links with StepChange or other third-party advice charities, and helpful hints & tips on how to manage their money.

How we at Dukes have taken #TheFirstStep

As the pioneer of ethical enforcement, we made it our goal to help debtors get out and stay out of debt. Our approach is simple, yet unique, and is just one of the reasons why local authorities choose Dukes as their preferred enforcement supplier.

With a focus on early engagement, we deliver unique initiatives that minimise fees, and to maximise our reach with every customer we continuously invest in new technologies and solutions that match our clients’ demographic.

What’s more, knowing customers can feel ashamed, embarrassed, or event scared to discuss their debts, we make their first step easier and empower them on their journey through our free direct and indirect communication platforms.

Finally, we listen and where possible encourage customers to earn their way out of debt, ending conventional scenarios where they simply ‘Rob peter to pay Paul’.

Walk before you can run

The stigma around enforcement and ‘bailiffs’ is one we continue to tackle and we know it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

We’ll continue to work in partnership with our client’s local CABS to dispel the myths on enforcement recovery processes, and use our relationship to build open, two-way communication as well as to identify ways to continually make #TheFirstStep for debtors easier. Plus, we pledge to always handpick our employees, ensuring they all share our family values and guarantee to deliver a personable and professional service to your customers when helping them get out of debt.
