The pioneer of ethical enforcement, Dukes Bailiffs Limited, is accredited by the Enforcement Conduct Board

Dukes has been accredited by the Enforcement Conduct Board (ECB) in their inaugural rollout. This accreditation evidences our commitment to upholding the highest professional and customer service standards to clients and customers.

Who is the Enforcement Conduct Board?

The Enforcement Conduct Board (ECB) is the independent oversight body for the debt enforcement sector in England and Wales.

Launched last Autumn, the ECB has an important mandate to ensure fair treatment for all those experiencing enforcement action. They pledge to provide independent oversight to recognise fair enforcement work and root out incidents of poor practice that can harm the whole industry.

What does the ECB do?

The Enforcement Conduct Board provides independent oversight to the debt enforcement sector in England and Wales. Their key functions include raising standards, improving accountability, complaint handling, protecting the vulnerable, and achieving fairness.

What is the ECB accreditation?

The ECB accreditation is the recognition given to enforcement firms who:

·         comply with the requirements of current Ministry of Justice National Standards

·         provide the ECB with Quarterly Data Returns

·         provide information to the ECB on request

·         pay a levy

To be accredited, in addition to the above, companies must also agree to the ECB carrying out supervisory activities such as audits and reviews of policies and procedures, compliance, and complaints.

The ECB will carry out independent research and develop an oversight model to ensure accredited members comply with their standards. The accreditation is granted for a year and must be renewed after this period. Only companies with the logo and who are listed on their website are accredited.

Why does Dukes Bailiffs support the Enforcement Conduct Board?

Enforcement is a crucial public service that supports the continued funding and delivery of essential local services to citizens. Enforcement also plays a vital role in our economic model by ensuring that debts are paid by those who can afford to do so.

The ECB’s mission is to ensure that everyone experiencing enforcement action is treated fairly and protected from bad practices. As the pioneer of ethical enforcement, Dukes supports this vision and supports the work that the ECB carries out to achieve this. We aim to recover money for our clients whilst helping debtors get out and stay out of debt through realistic payment arrangements and fair treatment throughout the recovery lifecycle.

We hope that by working together we can create a better experience for people in debt and change the negative connotations associated with enforcement activity.
